New Project: New Build Affordable Workspace at Newham’s Queen’s Market

Newham Council and the Greater London Authority, via the Mayor of London’s Good Growth Fund are investing £5.3m in Upton Park’s Queen’s Market to create more opportunities for local residents and businesses.

Three practices, have been appointed to lead this programme: JA Projects, Architecture 00 and Office S&M. Each developing scheme(s) in and around the Market respectively; Queen’s Market & Public Realm improvements, Affordable Workspace, and Creative Wellbeing Space. The cohort, along with the Council will lead the co-design and engagement process working closely with local residents, Queen’s Market traders, retailers and shoppers.   

Architecture 00 will be designing new build affordable workspace on Rochester Avenue. This will provide new opportunities for local enterprises to establish themselves in the heart of Green Street, strengthening its vibrancy and attractions. The workspace is selected as a demonstrator project for CIRCuIT who will be supporting the development of the scheme to the principles of Circular Economy.
