Architecture 00 is a London-based multi-disciplinary design studio with particular specialism in designing and delivering innovative solutions, with robust social, economic and environmental sustainability. In addition to our award-winning commissioned research and strategic work, our architectural projects, ranging from education spaces, enterprise centres, co-working spaces and self-led housing masterplans to ultra-low-energy residential new build and refurbishment – have increasingly gained a reputation for excellence. Our buildings have received 3 RIBA Building of the Year Awards, for SOAR Works, Manor Works, and The Foundry, all of which have unlocked a profound impact on the resilience and agency of the communities who occupy them. Our interrogative approach to design as a means of problem-solving has led to our being shortlisted for the Young Architects of the Year Award and featured by Icon Magazine in their ‘Future 50’ issue on leading designers shaping the future.
Our Methodology
Firstly, we have a team who are very talented, and work very hard. They bring an extraordinarily broad range of experiences from specialist stakeholder engagement, brief development, and workspace consultancy, to architectural design fit-out, and even furniture design.
We also hold deep values, which are easy to share – we want to play our part in leaving a legacy of a better place and let this value galvanise those we work with. We also all come from genuinely multi-disciplinary design backgrounds, and as such sincerely value the contribution all disciplines can, and must, make. From an interest in and understanding civils, structures, and MEP, to funding, viability, and development, or even workspace operation and HR, we find ourselves, perhaps, uniquely able to synthesise the project opportunities and constraints; unlocking the ability to mitigate costs and unlock value that only exist when considered holistically. Rarely do our projects cost more than a benchmark comparator as we have learnt to spend the budget (and those of all the other disciplines) in a more judicious manner.
While the value we deliver through being at the heart of a multi-disciplinary team requires us to be “jacks of all trades”, we see that it is the mastery of this role that delivers Architecture.
