Architecture 00 named 1 of 25 'Disruptor' Organisations by Architect's Journal's
This year’s AJ100 features constructive criticism from 25 ‘disruptor’ organisations from outside the AJ100 rankings.
Responding to far-reaching changes shaking up the architecture profession and in particular the climate emergency, the AJ editorial team decided last year that the AJ100 in 2020 should go in a different direction, including highlighting smaller practices and networks who are challenging the norms of traditional practice in their drive to work in a more sustainable manner.
This year’s disruptors include practices and organisations dedicated to environmental sustainability such as Architects’ Climate Action Network (ACAN), BBM Sustainable Design and Studio Bark. Others champion social sustainability and inclusivity through greater and wider community engagement, including ft’work, Baxendale and ArchitectureDoingPlace. Built By Us focuses on driving diversity in the construction sector, while Black Females in Architecture provides a campaigning network for a markedly under-represented part of the profession. Others tackle flood resilience (Baca), regenerative design (Exploration Architecture) and different ways of boosting the delivery of public-sector design (Public Practice), and much more.
